Lifespan-Wisdom Snippets From Peter.

Lifespan

Featured Photo by Immo Wegmann upsplash.com

It is said that our lifespan is, “Four scores and ten.” This does sound like a long time, but it passes quickly for those of us that set about enjoying every moment of our lifespan.

I used to spend ages on the internet searching for ways to find more time to complete all my daily tasks. However, I did this until I learned; I can never ‘find’ time because time is an illusion. On the other hand, I am able to make space in my waking moments to accomplish a particular task, yes, but looking for time is a lost cause.

To enjoy that which I have at present is a wise state because it leads to a peaceful existence for me. However, at no extra cost, I can dream that more and much better is up ahead. This is the cherry on the top.

My Grandmother used to say, “You have to take the bitter with the sweet.” I say, do I really?  How about sweetening the bitter?

I Am Not My thoughts

I am not my body nor my mind (which includes my thoughts). Consider this; at the time of my conception, the process of developing my body and mind began. Even more than this there was a third constituent to this precious package, my spirit. My spirit is my built-in capacity to communicate with a world in myself. A world that does not operate in the realm of the senses. More than this, my spirit, unlike my body and mind is untouchable. My spirit remains unaffected by the events in my life, whatever they were. As it was in conception, my spirit’s state remains the same at my point of death. You have heard of the expression, ‘the authentic me.’ This is the authentic me; my untouched spirit, the person I really am.

Calm-Wisdom Snippets -From Peter.

Calm

Feature Photo by Belinda Fewings upsplash.com

Seek to Be Calm

Mostly things don’t calm down next week, usually, they get worse. What is important though is how much you allow calm to affect you.

I am the sole analyst of situations in my life and decidedly the only one to do something about them.

If I allow myself to be brought into concern for my future, I become a slave to time. Now, as time is an illusion, I become, in truth, a slave to something that does not exist. Don’t you find that odd!

Wisdom came by me because I sought her; when she arrived, I had to be taught how to live with her. Now we are soulmates.

Time-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Time

Feature Photo by Grianghraf Upsplash.com

A Day is Coming When Time Will No Longer Be.

I am happy to know, for each of us, a day will come when time no longer exists. The word ‘stress’ will vanish along with time in that moment

I never partition events in my life as enjoyable or not enjoyable. Rather, I consider how I managed each event. This is a more illuminating approach for me.

I love to laugh and to cry. Laughing makes me feel happy, crying gives me a quick release to a sudden pent-up emotion. Both are priceless in their value and their timing.

As with most things in life, adventure comes at a cost. I have to stretch myself mentally, physically and exit my comfort zone, to experience it. A bargain at the price though.

Effort and Serendipity-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

effort

Feature Photo by Brett Jordan Upsplash.com

Effort and Serendipity .

I never allow myself to be ‘stuck in a hole’ I get out pronto!

Most things I have pursued with every strength in my life, weren’t worth the time and effort. Those that came to me serendipitously, without any effort on my part, were a treasure.

I have given the issue of risk much thought. Up to my fortieth year risk was a way of life for me. Now, the biggest risk I take is delaying a visit to the bathroom.

I welcome substantial changes in my life; something the order of, ‘ who would believe a beautiful butterfly started life as a hairy caterpillar?’ Bring on the change, I’m ready to fly.

Universe Rules-Peter’s Quote for The Day.

Universe

Feature Photo by Guillermo Ferlags upsplash.com

Time You Moved With The Universe.

The universe is ever moving, she breathes and sleeps as she moves. All within her must move with her there is no other option. I learned everything in the universe has a place and a season. Each season arriving in its correct place at the prescribed time. This is why I make sure I am in the right place at the right time. Failing these two vital factors, it becomes a question of, ‘Another place, another time, maybe?

Manage Your Life-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Live work Create

Feature Photo by Jon Tyson Upsplash.com

Four Wisdom Snippets To Help You Manage Your Life.

Can it be that I have a mind which is capable of practicing disciplined management? A mind that is able to manage every circumstance in my life. Accepting all as being designed to accomplish my purpose in this life. As I accomplish this, my mind is in a state of peace and happiness.

I should learn from the sea; she wills great rock formations into grains of sand, simply by washing over them. She never needs all her physical strength.

If the thoughts of my mind were as rose coloured spectacles, I would see all in the world through one kaleidoscope of glorious colour. No one different from another.

I do not see age as a measure of time, but rather as a state of attitude.

Peter’s Quote for the Day – Uncertainty.

Uncertainty

FeaturePhoto by Lubo Minar  Upsplash.com

Certainty or Uncertainty?

In my life I find the only true certainty is uncertainty; certainty is this moment now, nanoseconds later it becomes uncertainty. The reason for this is because what I was certain of nanoseconds ago is past. Past is linked to time and as time is an illusion, the past certainty I had is NOW an illusion. I went to a store to collect supplies. Everything was as I was certain to find it would be.

The following week I made my usual trip to the same store and it was gone! For a split second, I thought I might be hallucinating. But there it was – gone. I noticed by this time, huge boards stating that we were going to have a brand new store in a few months. Point taken, what was certain last week is no more this week. As a result, I live with uncertainty as my certainty, and I’m comfortable with this state.

Habits Atomic

Feature Photo by Lala Azizli Upsplash.com

Changing Habits

I have always resisted any form of change. As time has passed, I have realized that change is a constant in my life, whether I like it or not. Resisting change is a habit I have had for more years than I can remember. Try though I may, I could not break this habit.

I was under the illusion of believing that so-called change involved only the bigger developments in my life, not incidental, moment-to-moment happenings.

There are myriads of annoying little incidents that take place in my life. A neighbor’s yapping dog, someone playing excessively loud music, a person being rude to me. All these are annoying, to say the least. But why am I so affected by these events? Because they are challenging me to change my bad attitude habit.

After reading much of Eckhart Tolle’s works, I began to wake up to the fact that the pain I felt in resisting change was from my habit, not the challenge of change.

He also speaks about ‘conscientiousness’ and the importance of living in that state. I now practice this throughout my day. I discipline myself to focus through the course of every activity I’m engaged in, no matter how small.

Reading Tolle’s information has had miraculous results for me.

I live in the now moment. I contend with my old habits of resisting change. I’m continually aware that my habits create my pain, not the challenge of change.

Weekly Word of Wisdom

Cave

Importance of Advice

brown spider on web in close up photography
Photo by Leni Thalin on Upsplash

In my life advice, mostly not asked for, has arrived frequently on my doorstep, and often in the nick of time. All too often it hails from the strangest quarters. I’m not alone in this unusual process; Robert the Bruce of Scotland was licking his wounds in a cave after being defeated by the British Kings six times. A spider, seeing his quandary, offered him some advice. “This is how it works,” said the spider, who then proceeded to climb to the roof of the cave. Six times the spider climbed and fell, on the seventh attempt, she succeeded. “Off you go now.” said the spider waving goodbye. Robert, who was known for being quick on the uptake, rushed out the cave and in his seventh battle with the British Kings, sent them packing. He landed up getting himself a gold crown and ruled Scotland for twenty-three years. By the way, a spider advised me to write this piece. (I’m being serious.)

Weekly Word of Wisdom

Both Sides Now

“Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air

And feather canyons everywhere, I’ve looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone

So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way…”

From <https://www.songfacts.com/lyrics/judy-collins/both-sides-now>

As a pilot, I discovered that during daylight, the sky is always blue. All I had I had to do, was to fly above the clouds to witness it.

The true ‘clouds’ in my life are the never-ending thoughts that seem to create all manner of negatives, especially fears in my mind. The solution for me was to rise above these clouds and live in that space.

I came to understand my true identity is me, not the thoughts in my mind. The ‘thoughts in my mind’ are placed there by the Ego – the speaker. I am the listener.

The purpose of the Ego (the voice speaking thoughts in my mind) is to protect me from doing or saying things that might be harmful and from me taking unnecessary risks.

Here’s the crux of the matter; the Ego cannot discern between risk and opportunity, it simply sees everything in my life as risk!

What is most important though, is how I respond to what I hear. If thoughts engender such things as fear, doubt, anxiety, and multitudes of other negatives, I simply observe them and then, allow them to drift out of my mind. If thoughts of love, joy, peace excitement and such fill me, I embrace them fully.

Above all, I need to decide to take risks when necessary in order to seize opportunities, or else lose them.

The skill needed in my life is wise thought management; considering that thoughts become actions and these will have a future consequence, it is vital I choose correctly. If I do not conscientiously manage the moment-by-moment stream of thoughts overwhelming my mind, I become victim to many negative feelings and even depression at some level.
