Vince-The Plan

Thieves

Feature Photo by Upsplash.com

This is the plan, the chickens coming to roost, Vince thought.

Wind buffeted the late night; it began to drizzle, the cold drops spattering onto Vince’s face. Under the lamppost, he cut a ghostly figure. “Hi, Vince.”

“You’re late!” Vince grumbled.

“I know. Got laid up at the factory.” Gordon sounded almost cheerful. “Couldn’t you have found a better venue?”

“Piss off, will you? There are eyes and ears everywhere; out here, we are on our own.”

“Yeah, I get it, bleedin cold though, eh?” “what’s the pitch, mate?”

“We move in tomorrow at dawn. The warehouse only has one alarm system. From outside, we cut the mains, then come in through the roof. From there, the battery backup is accessible. Once disabled, it’s all go.”

“Do we have a location on the goods?”

“Sure, that’s mapped and easily accessed at the far end of the warehouse.”

“Where did you get the layout details?” Gordon was now showing signs of concern.

“Does it matter?”

“Feck you, of course, it matters! My life’s on the line here.” Beads of sweat were now visible on Gordon’s face, even in the poor lamplight.

“Join the team, mate; we’re all in the same boat. Team being the word, each of us has a part.”

“Yeah, right, how come I haven’t met the others then?

“You don’t need to meet them. You drive the van in, pick up the stuff, I join you, and we head for delivery simple.”

“The others?”

“They head in other directions.”

“From there?”

“You and I do the delivery. I get the dough, give you your share, drop you off at your spot, and we split ways.”

“Where will you go, Vince?

“Look, Gordon, the less each team member knows, the better. But I will ditch the van, meet the others, pay them out, and we each take to our different routes. Listen to me now. My advice to you is this. Don’t go back to your place. Take a taxi cross country. From there, catch the ferry and finally take a plane overseas, Don’t come back, ever!”

“Looks like a frikken long way to take a trip. Why don’t I jump on a plane from the first?”

“Gordon, you thickhead, think for a second. A long way around is a long way to trace, and we can’t leave any trace!”

“Yeah, you’re right, that’s frikken smart mate, cool.”

“Wake up, will you. It will be tickets for the rest of us if just one gets caught. Poof, goes our lolly, and we sit in the cooler for a few years. The feds have had a fair deal of practice with this stuff. They know how to extract information from the likes of us.” Vince went on. “You think on that boyo, have it fixed in your face all the time, one goes, all go, right? Let’s move.”

“Cut, cut, well-done guys, great scene! Let’s get the cameras and stuff packed up. Hot food and pints at the pub then, move, move.”

The Director was satisfied with the scene; no re-shoot was necessary.

When I do not see the results of what I want coming about in my life, I give up, often on the brink of these being realized. They would have fallen into my lap if I had been patient.

Joy-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Joy

Feature Photo by Preslie Hirsch Upsplash.com

Where’s Your Joy?

I become aware I’m living when joy fills me; it’s like smelling the roses – breathtaking! (do mind the bees pleeze.) P.S. I learned, Joy cannot be found outside my body, it’s a gift from the Spirit within me.

Plan all you want, but the true gem of your creativity will only come in its ordained moment.

The test of our metal only comes with its trial in the furnace.

My mind is bursting with so many thoughts of adventure. I am on a constant journey to myriads of different places, meeting all manner of people. It’s so effortless and without any cost. It is a most relaxing holiday for me – no jet lag!

Plan

What You Plan Is Not Always Best

I do not become concerned if what I plan does not eventuate, as most times the right one replaces it.

If I believe that everything in my life benefits me, irrespective of what it is, I will be rich.

In my life I only see a journey. This journey has no destination, which allows me plenty time to enjoy the journey.

As I have become wiser, I accept my life as it comes each moment. The result is that I live within the garden of a  wonderful peacefulness.

Weekly Words of Wisdom – Little Irritants.

Now

Feature Photo By Brett Jordan Upsplash.com

Little Irritants.

The other day I woke up to the fact that I allow too many little irritants to spoil the state of peace in my mind. You know the kind; the little Yorkie yapping through the day unceasingly (or so it seems.) The teens next door alternating between hip-hop and gaming shrieks at max volume. The construction team over the road taking turns on a jackhammer, to the strains of Elvis’s, “I’m All Shook Up.” (I’m exaggerating.) In all this external chaos, I reflected on an ancient scripture; “Let us use the little foxes; you know the ones that nibble away at our grapevines…” (My translation.)

Be patient, I’m getting to my point.

The vine is the state of my peaceful mind. The little foxes are the external disruptions to my mind and finally, stolen fruits, are the reaction to my thoughts. These will lead to hostile emotions arising from my thoughts. The result is little irritants spoil the peace of my mind.

For the most part, I can do nothing about the irritants.

But I am able to take charge of my thoughts and the way I do this is; for a brief moment, I consider the thoughts that are arising in my mind, not the irritants, just thoughts about them. I let the thoughts leave my space. Now I’m living in a space that is ‘real.’ This allows me to focus on my life as it is and what I’m about doing now. My thoughts are not entangled with the past or engrossed in the future. When I began reading the words of Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now,” I found it difficult to grasp the concept at first, with perseverance, I eventually did. More importantly, I now began to apply it.

As a person, I was haunted by many aspects of my childhood, youth, and later adulthood.

Later I created many things in my life, of which I was not proud. These too, regularly pierced through my mind. Unawares, I was nurturing thoughts that would create feelings within me. Dependent on the severity and frequency of these feelings, they would result in disastrous changes throughout my life. Taking the advice of Eckhart Tolle I made a commitment to stop nurturing toxic thoughts, trading them for concentrating on what is happening now in my life. I no longer entertain backward thinking, I leave that to the past. Living in the now moment is a timeless fact.

“Who buries their heart in the sands of the past, faces barrenness in their future.”

I forget my past. I plan my future, but do not live there.

Now Power

Plan Your Way Out of Employment

career-planning-diagram

I went to a coach to try and get some direction in my life. During a lull in our conversation, I drifted off, as I often do; suddenly I realized that the coach was speaking:

She asked me quite pointedly, “Where are you just now?” “Describe it to me in detail” Whilst her voice was gentle, it was nonetheless firm and I received her question more as an instruction, rather than a request.

I responded, “I’m seventy two and was retired by my employer two years ago. They discovered my age by accident and told me I was an illegal employee. I was given a month’s notice and my leave pay.
