Plan-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Plan

Feature Photo Brett Jordan Upsplash.com

What You Plan Is Not Always Best

I do not become concerned if what I plan does not eventuate, as most times the right one replaces it.

If I believe that everything in my life benefits me, irrespective of what it is, I will be rich.

In my life I only see a journey. This journey has no destination, which allows me plenty time to enjoy the journey.

As I have become wiser, I accept my life as it comes each moment. The result is that I live within the garden of a  wonderful peacefulness.

Breathing-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Breathe

Feature Photo Brett Jordan Upsplash.com

Four Wisdom Snippets To Help With Your Breathing.

Isn’t it interesting? Fear, which never gives up trying to imprison me, disappears with my breathing in and out deeply. This tells me fear is not real, breathing is!

I am an explorer, as such I have a fascinating life; discovering beautiful interesting people, places, events, and myriads of other special tangibles. Often I write about these and share them with others. Nowadays any one of us can explore without even leaving home – isn’t that wonderful?

I live in a binary world. One world is physical, the world of senses; the other ethereal, the world of Spirit. One I touch with my senses and the other, I touch in the Spirit.

I’m sure there is no possibility for me to ‘stand still’ I must move forward or by default, slide backward. I say this because I know my environment is changing quicker than my breathing.

Peter’s Quote for The Day-Love to Explore.

Explore

Change your Life-Explore .

I am an explorer by nature, and this has continued through my adult life to this day. As a child I rode around the bush roads on my bicycle, to discover new places and exciting things. Today I am fascinated by the phenomenal history of the country in which I live. Without a bicycle, and having to monitor journeys in my little car to avoid high costs, things needed to change.

It was then that I discovered, exploring places and people is not limited to leaving my desk. With an invaluable tool like the internet, I am able to explore all I want. On the internet, I can explore the world without leaving my office. Now my life is never dull, and I don’t stop my journey of discovery. Isn’t it amazing that exploring is also not limited to places and people? We can find out how to do anything. Also, learn how something works. Almost anything can be purchased online and we can watch sporting events as well. The list is limitless. Why not create your exploration.

Make a list of ten things that interest you as I did, then search the net, saving your most exciting finds in your favorites – you will be so surprised at what you discover.

Peter’s Quote for The Day-First Love

Heart

Feature Photo by Jon Tyson Upsplash.com

Kissed and Loved

My first love came about when I was seven years old. As two seven-year-olds, sitting on the porch, and making certain no one was watching, we kissed. Many, many years later, I found the first lady I have ever truly loved. Falling in love with her was extraordinarily exciting; we kissed often. I never wanted to lose this feeling, so I married her and decided I never wish to fall out of the love that I have fallen into.

Peter’s Quote for the Day-Possession.

Possessions

Feature Photo by Mink Mingle Upsplash.com

Possess Nothing.

No person is able to steal anything from me, whatever it might be. If a possession or creation is taken from me, without my permission, it simply means that my season of time with that item has ended. I was once a possessive person until I came to see possessiveness as a thief. It robs me of freedom and value. It teaches me to hold onto any matter which will, one day, in any event, I will leave behind. Naked I entered and naked I shall depart.

Peter’s Quote for The Day – Resisting Change.

Change Habits

Feature Photo By Hayley s Upsplash.com

Change a Habit

I find my life is a daily challenge of facing change. I usually resist any changes, small or large. But I found out that it was not change I was resisting. Rather it was the habit of resisting that was the problem. It was the habit that caused my resisting, not the change. I learned this was the source of the problem. I had to deal first, with the habit. My habit was simply, “I don’t like change.” The solution is, create a new habit: “Change is essential for my growth.” With my new habit, I manage changes much better now…

Peter’s Quote for The Day – Let It Be

Let it Be

I love and enjoy learning. The hardest lesson I ever learned was how to let go. It’s not always easy, giving up on a fruitless situation I was hanging onto, hoping for change. My life has always been a teeter between holding on and letting go. I hold onto people, situations, and many things because I am afraid to let go. I did discover though, the more I let go, the less I needed to hold onto. Guess what? My fear disappeared and I’m more self-confident!

Weekly Words of Wisdom Friends.

Friends

Feature Photo by 🇸🇮 Janko Ferlič Upsplash.com

In recent times, as the topic of friendship has been raised in my company, I have begun to question, in my own mind, what it means to have friends.

I’ll tell you why. Over the very long span of my life, I have had very few friends. By my definition, friends being those people to whom I’m am close, people I love, and make connections regularly. Yet, if I use this definition, I realize that all of these terms apply to my own family members. (I have a very large family and extended family members – and it grows by the year!)

With all of this now, it begs the question – what are friends? Over the years I have made many, many acquaintances (I am quite clear on this definition.) None of these, however, would fit the description of ‘friends’ as the generally accepted definition of the word goes. I have often heard the statement, “She/he is not just my wife/husband she/he is also my friend.”

From this, I glean that family members and partners can also be friends. This makes me feel much better now, as far as friends are concerned and certainly broadens the scope for me.

I Had A Dream……

Dan The Aviation Man 2

I stood in a fitting room, getting measured for my uniform. My uniform, the royal charcoal & burgundy of the prestigious Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways, an airline which has either been best or second best airline of the year for the last eight years. I can’t seem to grasp the fact that I am an employee of one of the leaders in the industry.

How did I end up here? To answer that question, I have to take you back a few years, so you will understand where my passion for aviation came from.

Sunderland J (2)
Sunderland ‘J’ Piloted by my Grandfather

My paternal grandfather passed away before I was born and as a result, I never had the opportunity to get to know him. He was a pilot during the great war. I remember spending hours looking at pictures of him in uniform while my grandmother told me about him and his flying years. I loved hearing about the people he met and the places he went. I can’t confidently say how or why this passion began, but I can definitely say, it was intense, consuming and, up until today, an integral part of whom I am.

Over the years, I spent hours reading about the industry, researching airports and learning about aircraft. If anyone was going to the airport, I was sure to be with them. If I knew about an air show happening, I would beg someone to take me. Any time I could incorporate aviation into school projects, I most certainly did.

When the time came for me to finish school and choose a career, aviation was an obvious choice. I just didn’t know which area of aviation exactly. The opportunity to go into avionics presented itself and I was thrilled to be starting my life in aviation. I spent the next three years completing my theoretical modules and doing long practical’s at various airports. Although I was in an industry I loved, this was a time of immense emotional hardship and I struggled through, but I made it; I qualified.

I began searching for jobs locally and then internationally. I was young, passionate and fully qualified, but very few companies got back to me. I can’t remember how many avionics related jobs I applied for, but it was very disheartening to not receive even a single call back.

I saw an advert on Face book for cabin crew with Qatar Airways. They were hosting an open day event in South Africa and I thought that dropping off my documents and saying hello wouldn’t hurt. I didn’t expect to have anything come from it, so I didn’t prepare to stay for any length of time. I got ready in business attire and went to the hotel hosting the open day. I was early, but other applicants started arriving and soon there were close on 600 people. I had long given up hope for this possibility.

Dan The Aviation Man
I Love this Space

Much to my surprise, I was asked to come back the following day. I passed the next round, the next and the next.

Fast forward a few months of jumping through hoops for the airline and there I was, my bags packed with a one-way ticket to Qatar.

I never expected this for my life; for a long time, I thought I would either work on the technical side of aviation or not in aviation at all. I also can’t explain how it happened that my first call back was the only job I applied for outside of avionics.

I find peace in accepting that this was just meant to be and as surprising as it was, I am happier than I have ever been.
