Peter’s Quote of The Day

cropped-Druids-Glen-Two-1.jpg
  1. I never run away from the upheavals in my life, choosing instead to face them head-on; this way they never pursue me. A forest fire, once abated, does not raise its fury again for some years.

I love each new day; the advantage of waking up and finding I’m alive, and the fact that once again, opportunity calls from outside the covers. Its so worthwhile waking and having gratitude for being alive; because one day I will wake up and find I’m dead! On that day I shan’t bother to find out what’s outside the covers – I will know.

I am an Author, Writer, and Blogger.

Whilst the titles might make me sound important, I am not. I love people and have a strong passion to encourage people and help them to love themselves.

Writing and publishing on my blogsite is simply what I do.

What do I write? Over the years I have published, short stories, Inspirational articles, poems, reviews of books, movies, restaurants and more.

Although of late I have focused more on ‘Words of Wisdom’ articles that invite people to challenge themselves as far as their self-development is concerned and these I publish weekly, under the title, “Weekly Words of Wisdom” on my blogsite: http://www.sirpeterjames.com.

Having had an excellent response to the “Weekly Words of Wisdom,” it makes sense to publish a daily, “Peter’s Quote for The Day,” in the hopes that you will, not only read it, but let the words be drawn into your very soul and finally, and most important of all – you will apply them to your life.

Peter’s Quote for The Day

You Are Enough
  1. In my life, there are no ‘good old days.’ The word good is not in my dictionary, the word old is not definitive enough and days are simply that – days. My days are precious moments of which I say, “I love my life so much, I’m going to live forever; why bother looking backward?”The only past which interests me is people and events in history. I am fascinated by history.

Don’t Die Too Soon……

It is interesting that in our age, longevity is a sought after state, with this product or that process offering to lead us to that sought after place.

It is also noteworthy that the Bible talks about certain men living to extraordinary ages. Methuselah takes the lead having died at the age of over 900 years!

Appreciating that there have been questions raised, over the years, about the language of the bible not necessarily having the same interpretation for numbers as we do in this age, there may be truth in this argument, there may not be, but in the end, who’s to say for certain?

In the cycle of human life, once beauty and stamina wane, the longevity wishers begin to have second thoughts. When the taste of commercial promises have proven themselves to be a little less than truth, the longevity wishers lose their appetite for a longer life. When the proliferation of mind disorders (particularly) reveals its ugly character or for that matter painful physical  diseases start destroying family members and friends before the very eyes of longevities, (if I may call them that) they don’t want to live longer thank you!

It looks like it’s a trade-off situation; in other words we want to live longer, but don’t want to die of a terrible mind or body failure.

Well, longevities, there’s good news in store for you. Its possible to live longer and not suffer the fate of mind and body failure, without the aid of commercial promises or changed lifestyle disciplines.

Its true, at least that’s what the Bible tells us; Moses is said to have died at one hundred and twenty years of age and went to his grave in good shape.

In case you are wondering, I am a longevity, planning on also going on to one hundred and twenty. “Why?” you might ask. Simple….I love my life and if Moses made it, I’m going make it as well!

This raises a question in my mind. When does death start? I think it begins with what could be termed as societal death.

Let me explain, when a person reaches a certain age, for the most part they are forced to retire. In other words they must give up their jobs and leave their work environment.

There are many people who successfully plan for this event and will go on in life sustaining themselves. There are those that would be able to continue earning money to augment pension payments. Then there are those who will have to rely on state pension only.

All these people will reach a time when society (including family members) will interact with them less and less; as a result they will spend a great deal of time on their own.

How often do we see pictures of the elderly, sat in chairs at a home or caring center, no longer productive, waiting for family or friends to visit and basically, waiting to die.

So death for these folks has started in the mind; that mind located in a perfectly healthy body. Loneliness, rejection, worthlessness, anxiety, fear, and many more begin their lethal purpose of destroying their host body and hey-ho-before-you-know, the host body and mind becomes home to a plethora of diseases, sadly resulting in death – often slow and painful.

Understandably, you ask, “Where are you going with this line?” My Answer is this: There’s more…….

Look out for part two, it’s really interesting.

Becoming the Person you want to Be

Dreams 6

We all dream of things we would like to see happen in our lives. More often than not, these are ideals that we don’t share with others or maybe just one other special person, usually someone we can trust. Now that I think about it, apart from the one with whom I have a close relationship, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone discussing their dreams.

A Year of Fulfillment

Love

Hello to all my family, friends, followers and readers.

I am excited, as I’m sure you are, that today, January 1st 2019 has dawned.

I am convinced that as the ancient scriptures say, “….there are three things that remain – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is love”. (1Cor.13:13).

There is no doubt in my mind, that when we have faith in the accomplishment of our dreams – they will come to pass. If we are blessed with the gift of faith, then we are rich.

However, where our faith is weak, there is always hope. Hope keeps us moving through the suffering, pain, loneliness, loss, fear and the many other human traumas that we experience along life’s long rocky road. Hope gives us the strength to push on.

Yet, it is said in these words of wisdom that faith and hope will pass away in due course and the only one to remain, will be love. Of course, the love that these words of wisdom speak about is not the romantic love that is so exciting when we experience it; it is not the love we have for our Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, but it is the love we have for ourselves, our fellow humans; the gratitude we experience for the world in which we live in and also the many different experiences we go through in this life.

The mystery in discovering this Love, that the ancient words speak of, is found in in it’s advice to: “…….ask and you will be given what you ask for, seek and you will find, ….” (Matt. 7:7).

Have you ever asked for love, to come and live inside you, to become part of you? If love is the only lasting quality, then you are wise to ask for it, wise to search for it.

My hope for you is that this year of 2019 will be the best year of your life, that all your dreams will be fulfilled, that you learn how to negotiate the rocky parts of your journey through life, with peace, joy and contentment in your heart.

Above all, I wish that you will find the great everlasting love.

Sylvia Rose’s Story – Chapter Eleven

I’ve been to paradise, but I’ve never been to me.

I promised that my next article would be about the “things my father taught me”

But recently I had a life changing experience, which I would like to share with you today. The title of this article is from a Randy Crawford song… Which resonates with me currently.

Things learned Along Life’s Way – Part Two

The Watcher.

The Watcher always looks at every aspect of life from a distance, as an observer, if you will. Never becoming caught up in anything, always watching from a distance.

Things learned Along Life’s Way

The Watcher.

I love every day of my life and I am not suggesting, when I make this statement, that my life is easy, but rather and more importantly, my life is beautiful, both when its hard and when its easy.

This is how I see my life:

My life is a striking garden, filled with the most magnificent of flowers, scented bushes and indigenous trees. It has gently flowing water features that sing soft tranquil songs. There are paved paths leading to little benches sitting under the shade of motheringgardens 2trees, offering shelter from their wide branches. My garden has a small stream flowing through it, the source of which is a nearby mountain and is pure, even chilled and ready-to-drink.

Birds and an abundance of insect life have their homes in my garden. There are nests of every sort, a hive in a tree for a large colony of (very busy) bees.

My garden is a perfumery, where the skills of the great Master Perfumer infuse their extraordinary fragrances that evolve with each moment of the day and night.

My garden is a haven of peace in the stillness of the early morning, before the rays of sun, birds and insects, bring forth her radiant glory. She brings forth her, out-of-the-ordinary fragrance, for those who will venture into this very exclusive time of day – when moon and stars rule the heavens – all others are still asleep; only the Watcher, who seeks to drink deeply of her offerings. The Watcher comes, whilst the sun is bidding farewell to foreign lands, far away.

The Watcher, who breathes in her fragrance of the dew on the grass and leaves, the earth as it offers its nourishment of new life, to all who would grow there. All the while, each one makes ready for the arrival of the sun, heralding the new day.

The Watcher, who comes to greet the Master Perfumer, here in this paradise of my garden, whilst all is yet still – whilst the voice of the Perfumer can be easily heard.

I rise up, for now the sun has announced her arrival – first with shades of orange tint on the great clouds above and then to the greeting of the community of birds and insects, gratefully hailing the sun for her arrival.

The Watcher greets his day in chorus with the others and sets about his tasks for the new day, grateful for his garden, grateful for his life and the opportunity of yet another day!

Later in the heat of the day the great white clouds do gather in the sky above, now joined by the winds and also darker clouds, the sun, gracefully steps aside, as her place is above all this feverish gathering. The wind, in cyclone fever, makes her presence known; she dances among the trees and they twist, sway, bow and join in tune to her song – they dance and their branches begin to clap. The community fly to Storm Among Treesthe safety of their nests and hives, those that dwell beneath the ground, taking refuge from the celebration of which they cannot take part. For this is the celebration of the wind, clouds, dancing and clapping trees, the fire of the lightning bolts and the thundering heavens.

Now the rain arrives, most loved of all elements, the ice, who promises much nourishment to the soil, which holds all together. Leaves take to flight in all directions, grateful for their small part on the celebration stage.

Slowly, almost unnoticed, the tempo of the celebration settles into gentle soft droplets, assuring the earth of its full promise of nutrition. The thunder and lightning bow off the stage, leaving the clouds to continue the next performance on a parched theater awaiting their arrival with deep expectation.

The Watcher begins to clap; he honors the performers, who wave as they move off the stage.

The Watcher smiles, as he has learned that, there is no paradise in his garden, without the customary visits of the performers, who stir up a halcyon commotion, forcing all to break out of the routine of daily harmony and to join the celebration of the Master Perfumer’s life giving sustenance.

The Watcher observes that in the stillness of the shows aftermath, the community, once again emerge from their shelters and continue with their harvest, they neither fear, nor complain about the show – they have never been taught how to do that – they are just grateful and thankful for the keeper of my garden – The great Master Perfumer.

The Watcher has drunk deeply of the sorrows, pains and times of loneliness of this life; but these are no longer meaningful to him as they have become fading memories in the light of his beautiful garden of joy, peace and tranquility.

For he has discovered, that whilst he has flown on the wings of the wind and flirted with the sun, far above the tempest staged below, there was peace above and below, in his world.
