Peter’s Quote of The Day

bee drinking on purple flower
  1. I am happy to know that nothing in life is ever ‘finished;’ everything in my life is in a state of evolvement. Flowers give bees nectar and pollen. Bees pollinate flowers, allowing them to reproduce. I reasoned, if this process never finishes, it simply continues. If something continues, there can never be a destination in sight. If there is no destination, it is simply a journey. In that case, I will commit to focusing on every detail of my journey, I will adapt to change and love every moment.

I love each new day; the advantage of waking up and finding I’m alive, and the fact that once again, opportunity calls from outside the covers. Its so worthwhile waking and having gratitude for being alive; because one day I will wake up and find I’m dead! On that day I shan’t bother to find out what’s outside the covers – I will know.

I am an Author, Writer, and Blogger.

Whilst the titles might make me sound important, I am not. I love people and have a strong passion to encourage people and help them to love themselves.

Writing and publishing on my blogsite is simply what I do.

What do I write? Over the years I have published, short stories, Inspirational articles, poems, reviews of books, movies, restaurants and more.

Although of late I have focused more on ‘Words of Wisdom’ articles that invite people to challenge themselves as far as their self-development is concerned and these I publish weekly, under the title, “Weekly Words of Wisdom” on my blogsite: http://www.sirpeterjames.com.

Having had an excellent response to the “Weekly Words of Wisdom,” it makes sense to publish a daily, “Peter’s Quote for The Day,” in the hopes that you will, not only read it, but let the words be drawn into your very soul and finally, and most important of all – you will apply them to your life.

Failings are not Failure

Failure 3
Brett Jordan Avatar of user Brett Jordan Brett Jordan @brett_jordan @brett_jordan

The overriding failure in my life was seeing my failings as a failure, when, in truth, they were simply steps on the ladder of my ultimate success.

I turned my life around, simply because it wasn’t working for me. I woke up to the fact that the reason for this was; I was living in my past.

It is said; with age comes wisdom. I’m not sure if this is true as I recall asking for wisdom, and progressively, over the years I was aware of growing in wisdom.

Wisdom has revealed to me; I can learn from my past experiences, I can plan for the future, but I must live only in this moment now.

Not only did wisdom come to me, it also brought along its close friend, adventure. How I know this is, I started to become exceptionally curious. Curious about everything not only of myself, but the world around me. This led to many of the most amazing discoveries I began to make in all the different aspects of my life.

As a writer, I constantly crawl the net for information and am daily amazed at what I discover there.

Today’s technology has provided a mammoth library; the most dynamic ever established in the history of humankind. And, it’s largely free!

Along with this new experience, I began to practice self-development in many of its different forms; the discovery of me and how I can I improve myself.

Finally I established a daily routine of meditative prayer, meditation and mindfulness.

I never knew adventure could be both so exciting and interesting.

I see my life as ever-changing, each moment of every day and yet, the direction of my journey remains constant toward refining the relationship I have, the Spirit within me and I.

Thankfully, I no longer look to my past, as that door is firmly shut, yet I plan for my future, but above all – I live to the full in this moment now, there is no place like it!

Meditation Magic

Flying Birds Eye View

I love meditating and indulge myself daily in this liberating experience. This discipline has made a remarkable improvement in the area of my spiritual, mental, and physical strength.

I journey through my body, from the top of my head and on to the soles of my feet, using a homespun mantra of thanksgiving for the perfect health of every component in this precious body of mine.

From here, taking sound advice from my unofficial distance mentor, Eckart Tolle (‘The Power of Now.’) Who says that we should never chase the thoughts coming into our minds, but rather observe them, without becoming involved, I enter my meditative state.

“Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.” – Alan Watts

My aim, with no pre-planned strategy in mind, is to silently drift, as clouds do ahead of the winds, in a yoga pose seated on the floor. I have no idea if the pose is essential to a deeper meditation or not, but at the very least, it does wonders for my posture.

More recently, in my meditation, I have taken to ‘flying’ in my body, sometimes only thirty or forty meters above the ground. Because I am invisible to the naked eye, I can observe, unnoticed by humans, animals, and birdlife, as they go about their daily activities. At other times I soar above the clouds and see the curvature of the earth below. I am grateful that I have sufficient ‘pictures’ in my mind to achieve all this. It’s so peaceful, relaxing, and above all – calming. I am slowly learning the art of ‘being.’

For me there are no rules, except to gain maximum from Eckart’s teaching, I steer myself into the now moment and discipline myself to remaining there.

Aaah, sweet bliss, I love this time, first thing in my day.

Weekly Word of Wisdom.

Self-Development

Little Brook

In terms of my self-development, I strive for the highest and even if I underachieve, I will still be higher than when I started.

I find self-development, for me, is not a matter of a destination to accomplishment, but more an exciting journey, where discovery is the order of every step. With each new discovery, there is a direction to new creativity within me. On this journey are the times when I create best.

I love creating, it is a powerful gift and deeply satisfying to my soul. My creativity never disappoints me, it springs forth from me like a gentle brook of crystal clear, cool water flowing down a hillside.

You ask, "Where can I find this creativity, I do not seem to have the gift of which you are talking?" It is waiting for you in the treasure box that's kept in your heart; and on a still moonlit night that shines through your bedroom window, if you look carefully, at the palm of your hand, you will find the key to the box. Open it and take your creative gift - its there, just for you.

Clarence the Caterpillar

Catepillar to Butterfly

Once there was a young and very hairy Caterpillar, called, Clarence, who lived on the jungle floor. The world around and above him was filled with many, many different and often, dangerous creatures. Whilst there was an abundance of food and water around, there was the equally good chance of being food for many other creatures. Continue reading Clarence the Caterpillar

A Year of Fulfillment

Love

Hello to all my family, friends, followers and readers.

I am excited, as I’m sure you are, that today, January 1st 2019 has dawned.

I am convinced that as the ancient scriptures say, “….there are three things that remain – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is love”. (1Cor.13:13).

There is no doubt in my mind, that when we have faith in the accomplishment of our dreams – they will come to pass. If we are blessed with the gift of faith, then we are rich.

However, where our faith is weak, there is always hope. Hope keeps us moving through the suffering, pain, loneliness, loss, fear and the many other human traumas that we experience along life’s long rocky road. Hope gives us the strength to push on.

Yet, it is said in these words of wisdom that faith and hope will pass away in due course and the only one to remain, will be love. Of course, the love that these words of wisdom speak about is not the romantic love that is so exciting when we experience it; it is not the love we have for our Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, but it is the love we have for ourselves, our fellow humans; the gratitude we experience for the world in which we live in and also the many different experiences we go through in this life.

The mystery in discovering this Love, that the ancient words speak of, is found in in it’s advice to: “…….ask and you will be given what you ask for, seek and you will find, ….” (Matt. 7:7).

Have you ever asked for love, to come and live inside you, to become part of you? If love is the only lasting quality, then you are wise to ask for it, wise to search for it.

My hope for you is that this year of 2019 will be the best year of your life, that all your dreams will be fulfilled, that you learn how to negotiate the rocky parts of your journey through life, with peace, joy and contentment in your heart.

Above all, I wish that you will find the great everlasting love.

The Alchemist – by Paulo Coelho

Arabian Warrior

A Book Review.
“At that moment, it seemed to him that time stood still and the Soul of the World surged within him. When he looked into her dark eyes and saw that her lips were poised between a laugh and silence, he learned the most important part of the language that the world spoke – the language that everyone was capable of understanding in their heart.
It was love; something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert. Something that exerted the same force whenever two pairs of eyes met, as had theirs, here at the well. She smiled and that was certainly an omen – the omen he had been awaiting, without even knowing he was, for all his life. The omen he had sought to find with his sheep and in his books, in the crystals and in the silence of the desert.
It was the pure language of the world. It required no explanation; just as the universe needs none as it travels through endless time.
What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life and that, with no need for words, she recognized the same thing. He was more certain of it than anything in the world. He had been told by his parents and his grandparents that he must fall in love and really know a person before becoming committed.
Maybe people who felt that way had never learned the universal language; it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.”
Excerpt from ‘The Alchemist’, by Paulo Coelho.
Paulo Coelho must rank among the great contemporary writers of our day. The Alchemist must feature as his very best. As it has sold in excess of 30 million copies, translated into 63+ Languages; it would surely be a candidate for the title of a classic.
