Weekly Words of Wisdom

Earth

What On Earth am I Doing?

I accept that my life is a very precious gift, for which I shall be eternally grateful. I am even more grateful my life has taught me so many useful lessons about living. Enjoying my living takes some of the mystery out of why I am here on this Earth. The inexplicable reason for my being on this earth has always driven me to search.

While I may have found many words written on how I must live my life on this Earth; there have been less by far of why I am on the Earth. The same source that quotes words on why I am on earth does not give me a definitive answer on going about that process.

Wisdom has now revealed to me that it is not life’s meaning that is so important, but rather the living of my life each day, knowing whoever has the reason for me being on Earth, is content not to define this reason in precise terms.

Yet there are many expressions like, …”do not fear… Be not anxious…the birds of the air… the lilies of the field…” and many others. Why don’t I follow the wise words and cut the stress? In which case, why raise the question of, ‘why?’

As a result, I now love living.

Pilots in Cockpit

Enjoy The Ride

It is said that no pilot is ever lost, it’s just at times they are uncertain of where they are! I am a good pilot, I follow along my journey through life with every interest in each moment, often uncertain of where I am, but certain that I’m enjoying the ride.

It has been much like this with any projects I have undertaken; my most difficult stage was whether to start or not. Once I decided to go ahead, I put my hard hat on and hung in there as if my life depended on it.

The result was that I felt accomplished once the task was complete, but dreaded taking on the next task. After a time I wizened up and began to undertake tasks without the end in sight, rather enjoying each process as I went along, right up to the end. Now its become a joy looking for, and starting new projects.

Boy Day-Dreaming

Keep Dreaming

What used to get me into trouble when I was a little person in junior school was my imagination and propensity to dream. Yet, it turned out later to be the trailer to the upcoming blockbuster of my life.

From young I was told by my teachers that I was a dreamer. Well, they’re all passed now and I’m within reaching distance of eighty years, having had a wonderful life.

I’ve never gone hungry, never been without sustenance, always had a roof over my head, fine clothing to wear, cars to drive, airplanes to fly. I am married to a beautiful lady who loves me and I have accomplished many things along the way.

By the way, I have never stopped dreaming, the difference today is, I don’t have to look over my shoulder fearing the onslaught of an angry teacher!

So I say, “John you done well Son – keep dreaming!”

Blame Game

Wormhole
Picture Credit: John Paul Summers Avatar of user John Paul Summers @jpthedp

I hear others talk of ‘The Blame Game’ and it made me think. Surely, to lay blame on others and especially myself, is not only a fruitless but also damaging practice. If something happens in my life at this moment now, it immediately becomes past tense and as such, cannot be changed. It is done. Unless… I could time walk.

Researches say that in order to time walk, I have to find and enter into a wormhole. I have no idea as to the validity of this statement, but if it is true then would I be able to go backward and change things for the better, or will this run against the law of the Universe?

Considering the above, until I find a wormhole and understand the law of the Universe, I can’t change any action or words of mine done or spoken, even a nano-second ago. Hence it becomes fruitless to blame myself or others for something done or said in the past.

There’s more… to do something that is fruitless is one thing, to do something that is damaging is another; Something fruitless offers no gain, but the damage will need repair if it is possible. Psychologists say, in the realm of the human psyche, the repair is not always that simple to accomplish.

Since I made this decision my breathing has improved! This being the case, It would be wiser for me resolving to remove the word ‘blame’ from my vocabulary and desist from anything connected to it.

Weekly Word of Wisdom

Don’t Judge

“Before you judge another, walk a mile in their moccasins.”

At best, judging is a potentially harmful practice, at worst it offers no benefit, to either the judge or the one being judged.

The only people who should judge are Judges.

It has been my experience that judging others is easier for me than loving others; accepting them at face value and seeking to console, comfort, and encourage them. It appears that it is innate in me to see a difference in others and then pass judgment, labeling them too quickly instead of quitting that alien practice. My only hope for a remedy in my life is that I recognize the vile thought when it appears in my mind then change my attitude immediately. I’m grateful I am becoming stronger at removing it from me each day.
