Weekly Words of Wisdom – Weather.

Weather

Feature Photo by Wim van ‘t Einde Upsplash.com

What’s it like out there today?

The country in which I live, most people I greet, respond by commenting on the weather. “It’s a good day today”, or “Bad weather we having today.” or “We are having too much rain.” to mention a few. I then realized it is futile to engage these comments for certain reasons.

The Universe is Self-Controlled

Firstly the Universe, to the best of my understanding, is a self-controlled system (no one is flicking switches or pushing buttons.) It does what is required to sustain life on Earth at the precise moment and location necessary. (I can’t speak for what happens elsewhere in the Universe, as I have no idea.) This will include seasons, temperatures, night and day, earthquakes, volcanoes, tornados, tsunamis, and so on.

The Universe performs what is necessary at the time it is needed

Secondly, who is to say that the “bad weather” I am experiencing today isn’t performing its duty of maintaining the balance of nature in my area and creating a ‘butterfly effect for weather elsewhere? (as it may have been performed on many occasions before there were meteorological records.) With this in mind, I’m convinced that all weather is firstly just perfect for what the world needs at this moment and secondly, it’s absolutely spot on time!

I Liken the Universe to my Body

The function of the universe could be likened to my body. The universal control, being my brain and the rest of my mind and body components being the galaxies that populate the vast stellar sky. Nothing happens without my brain. Its function is completely automatic. For this reason, I can safely go to sleep at night, knowing that my brain continues its work. It does so perfectly, performing necessary functions at precisely the correct time. Can you think of anything to compare with these two magnificent systems? Now I have an inkling of how the universal system works I love my days and whatever weather they bring. With this attitude, my life is uncomplicated and I am always happy.

Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Love

Feature Photo by Skye Studios Upsplash.com

Seven Wisdom Snippets to Encourage you.

  • I keep doing what I love, because love is the most infectious quality I have to give.
  • It is not always the case that we gain wisdom with age, but often it is found there.
  • Short-term greed brings long-term ruination!
  • Until I can accept all my fellow humans as valuable partners in my journey through life, respecting whatever differences lie between us, there will be no peace on my earth.
  • When circumstances threaten to overwhelm me, I revise my thinking about them; this way, I am never overcome by my experiences.
  • Now and again, I trust my instincts and do the unexpected. When I do this, it brings encouraging results. If it doesn’t, that’s a pity. But I would instead have trusted and not received encouragement rather than not trust and never get anything anyway.
  • I am grateful I broke with traditionalism early in my adult life. However, I was always an upstream walker in any event. For this reason, it was not difficult for me to leave traditionalism by the wayside. I saw that traditionalism attempted to define me.

Peter’s Quote for the Day – Fire.

Furnace

Fire of Refinement.

Strangely enough, gold is not in a pot at the end of the rainbow but is found in the furnace of life where it is being refined. You and I, the supreme creatures in the universe, are the unrefined gold. Nothing in the universe requires the furnace of refinement, except you and I. Makes you wonder about our purpose on earth, doesn’t it? I am deeply grateful to those in my life that gave me support and encouragement. Certain of these kindled in me a fire to walk a road of self-development. This is an interesting road, inasmuch as it has no final destination! In addition, it is a means of refining my character. As time has passed and I’ve accomplished both small and large achievements, my confidence has grown. I do not undertake a project with the end in sight, but rather, enjoying each step along the way. Step by step my foundation is strengthened and my confidence soaring. Hey-ho, before I know it, my project is complete. One down and a limitless amount of others to take on.

Peter’s Quote for The Day – Your Destiny

Purpose

Feature Photo by Danica Tanjutco Upsplash.com

Your Destiny

Someone asked me, what is the purpose of life on this Earth? My reply was, “I don’t know, and does it really matter, as long as I enjoy every moment, irrespective of my circumstances? Is it possible to enjoy every moment in my life on Earth? I would say yes. Although it depends, of course, on how I perceive all the different circumstances taking place in my life. Meaning, I must count everything in my life as a blessing. Am I able to say, “Everything in my life is happening for my benefit, and the best is yet to come?” If so, I think it is possible to enjoy everything and with it, every moment, which happens in my life. Surely, if joy is the hallmark of my lifespan, then my purpose on this Earth would have been fulfilled?

Weekly Words of Wisdom

Earth

Feature Photo by Elena Mozhvilo Upsplash.com

What On Earth am I Doing?

I accept that my life is a very precious gift, for which I shall be eternally grateful. I am even more grateful my life has taught me so many useful lessons about living. Enjoying my living takes some of the mystery out of why I am here on this Earth. The inexplicable reason for my being on this earth has always driven me to search.

While I may have found many words written on how I must live my life on this Earth; there have been less by far of why I am on the Earth. The same source that quotes words on why I am on earth does not give me a definitive answer on going about that process.

Wisdom has now revealed to me that it is not life’s meaning that is so important, but rather the living of my life each day, knowing whoever has the reason for me being on Earth, is content not to define this reason in precise terms.

Yet there are many expressions like, …”do not fear… Be not anxious…the birds of the air… the lilies of the field…” and many others. Why don’t I follow the wise words and cut the stress? In which case, why raise the question of, ‘why?’

As a result, I now love living.

Peter’s Quote of The Day

Change
  1. Whilst Covid was sadly for some, a final end to their stay on earth and to many, many others, tragedy’s of differing measures; for me, it has been a time of change, acceptance, and opportunity. A significant lesson in terms of adapting to a situation and making it work for me.
Peter James

I love each new day; the advantage of waking up and finding I’m alive, and the fact that once again, opportunity calls from outside the covers. Its so worthwhile waking and having gratitude for being alive; because one day I will wake up and find I’m dead! On that day I shan’t bother to find out what’s outside the covers – I will know.

I am an Author, Writer, and Blogger.

Whilst the titles might make me sound important, I am not. I love people and have a strong passion to encourage people and help them to love themselves.

Writing and publishing on my blogsite is simply what I do.

What do I write? Over the years I have published, short stories, Inspirational articles, poems, reviews of books, movies, restaurants and more.

Although of late I have focused more on ‘Words of Wisdom’ articles that invite people to challenge themselves as far as their self-development is concerned and these I publish weekly, under the title, “Weekly Words of Wisdom” on my blogsite: http://www.sirpeterjames.com.

Having had an excellent response to the “Weekly Words of Wisdom,” it makes sense to publish a daily, “Peter’s Quote for The Day,” in the hopes that you will, not only read it, but let the words be drawn into your very soul and finally, and most important of all – you will apply them to your life.

Peter’s Quote of The Day

  1. I am grateful my family is a record of where I come from. They will be a record of who I was, once I have left this earth, but most of all, they are the true friends I enjoy in this moment now.

Meditation Magic

Flying Birds Eye View

I love meditating and indulge myself daily in this liberating experience. This discipline has made a remarkable improvement in the area of my spiritual, mental, and physical strength.

I journey through my body, from the top of my head and on to the soles of my feet, using a homespun mantra of thanksgiving for the perfect health of every component in this precious body of mine.

From here, taking sound advice from my unofficial distance mentor, Eckart Tolle (‘The Power of Now.’) Who says that we should never chase the thoughts coming into our minds, but rather observe them, without becoming involved, I enter my meditative state.

“Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.” – Alan Watts

My aim, with no pre-planned strategy in mind, is to silently drift, as clouds do ahead of the winds, in a yoga pose seated on the floor. I have no idea if the pose is essential to a deeper meditation or not, but at the very least, it does wonders for my posture.

More recently, in my meditation, I have taken to ‘flying’ in my body, sometimes only thirty or forty meters above the ground. Because I am invisible to the naked eye, I can observe, unnoticed by humans, animals, and birdlife, as they go about their daily activities. At other times I soar above the clouds and see the curvature of the earth below. I am grateful that I have sufficient ‘pictures’ in my mind to achieve all this. It’s so peaceful, relaxing, and above all – calming. I am slowly learning the art of ‘being.’

For me there are no rules, except to gain maximum from Eckart’s teaching, I steer myself into the now moment and discipline myself to remaining there.

Aaah, sweet bliss, I love this time, first thing in my day.

Serengeti in Africa….

As something different this week, I am posting the work of two of the WhyWrte? course participants –

This is Jingaling’s contribution – enjoy:

Ecosystems anywhere, are worth going to. Why? You may ask yourself.

Let me tell you about my experience.

Being confined to a routine of work and home, a visit to the Serengeti brought me back to earth, showing me an amazing way of communicating and enjoying life by “just thinking”.

I always say “thinking is essential” to achieve what you want in life, both in your personal and business lives. This is common sense, I know, but I promise you, common sense does not always prevail in life today.

I learnt a little Swahili, as this is the official language of Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. Learning this taught me how to stay humble and also to never ever judge anyone that walks with you. By speaking the home language, ISwahili gained so much respect from Tanzanian people, that I felt like a visiting queen, however, I was anything but. I only managed to speak a few sentences to ensure that I could make myself understood and not talk myself into trouble.

Before the Lion King, hakuna matata was used in a well-known Kenyan song “Jambo Bwana” by ‘Them Mushrooms’. I was not aware of this, but people told me, and I found it interesting.

You must wonder why The Serengeti?

Well, it is Tanzania’s oldest game reserve, renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, this is really no joke, but an estimated three million antelope – mostly wildebeest — migrate here. This in itself is amazing and somethingwildebeeste 3 to see. Which now that I have seen this with my own eyes, I have developed a love for this place.

In the Serengeti, the focus is on the big predators, of course. The lion is the star of the show, the animal that everybody wants to see.

The lions of the Serengeti reminded me that every person should adopt a lion image; Lions make themselves safe and are respected by other animals. Each of us should place ourselves where we can succeed and achieve our goals.

The African predators also remind us about the issue of conflict, which is something we all have in our lives and must learn from each experience in order to equip us in dealing with conflict when it comes around again.

Whilst the great predators of the Serengeti are responsible for strategy and seeming conflict, it is the more numerous hoofed creatures, populating the plains, that cheer the Serengeti’s remarkable setting.

The Serengeti is composed of stunning geography; the landscape is formed of rocks that intrude into the plains, which are like a sea of grass.

But the Serengeti’s setting is more complex than geology, because it includes life itself, a setting packed with the smaller creatures that enrich the landscape with drama but also with detail.

This is life, and seeing these animals do what they do, made me realize that life is a gem in itself.

In the end, it’s up to us, as humans, to preserve the structure of nature’s tale, the flow of our world’s story, and the significance of the creatures that share our world; for we are also part of the story, hence we must nurture and protect what we have been given.

I want to leave you with the following acronym, by which I live: “R.A.P”

R – Responsible

A – Accountable

P – Proud

As humans, we are responsible for our own actions, and we are accountable for those actions, at all times; but it does not end there, after being responsible and accountable , one must always be proud of one’s actions.

Stay safe and mentally healthy,

jingaling

The Little Prince

Little Prince 3

A Book Review

The Little Prince was authored by Antoine De Saint-Exupery (1900-1943), a French nobleman, in 1943.

De Saint-Exupery was an aviator and the author of several bestselling novels, but the Little Prince far exceeded his wildest dreams. Continue reading The Little Prince
