Misfortunes-Peter’s Wisdom Snippets .

misfortune

Feature Photo by Sigmund Upsplash.com

Because of the many misfortunes, I have experienced in my own life that I have compassion for those that lack in any way. And in this way, with my compassion, misfortunes became fortunes.

In times of sorrow, without thinking, I set my living aside to focus on my sorrow; And yet, sorrow gives nothing but pain, it is a taker of my joy and peace. But living is a giver of all manner of wonderful experiences. So I opted to leave sorrow behind and live. What a difference that has made to me.

I found that if do something helpful for another, I am immediately uplifted.

Integrity holds within its grasp the power of generosity towards others. And generosity towards others holds the power of return to sender, with interest.

Morality-Wisdom Snippets From Peter

Morality

Feature Photo by Philippe Oursel upsplash.com

Focus on Morality

Is Humanity served by high social graces, with low morality? Is it not better to have high social graces, with compassion for those who suffer; and have high morality as well? I wonder.

I learned in my life if I delay any decisions they go dimmer with the passing days. My decisions are much more effective when applied immediately.

If you believe that you are a created being, you should also believe that, in turn, your purpose in this life is to create. All of us are creative artists in one form or another. Some will paint, some write, others singing or acting. There are those that serve others in many differing ways. There are those that manufacture, farm, and countless others. What do you create?

I spent much time trying to find myself. Once I saw the futility of this exercise and, on the counsel of another, I took a new tack. Standing in front of the mirror, I addressed myself as follows: ‘From today, I am going to create a new person out of you.’  The results have been so encouraging

Peter’s Quote for The Day – Love the Greatest Value

Love The Greatest

Feature Photo by Tim Mossholder Upsplash.com

Love, The Greatest Value

I aspire to a higher way of living, not the generally accepted values of the world at large. Instead, values of love, honesty, integrity, compassion, and respect toward my fellow humans. Surely love must be the most important of these attributes, and yet, it is the least given. I have been working on this for some years now. Apart from affording me a peaceful life, I reap a harvest of blessings in addition.

Top Drawer Teacher – Happy Children.

A Top-Drawer Teacher

I am privileged to have two Grandaughters who are teachers. They are women who play a vital role in the lives of the second stage in little people’s lives – ‘going to school.’ When my girls talk about their little charges, they do so with such passion and compassion, such love. The below article I have copied from a post sent to me and which appeared on Facebook. My hope is that many, many mothers, teachers, and children would read this piece.

Weekly Words of Wisdom – Thought Discipline.

Discipline

Feature Photo By Brett Jordan Upsplash.com

Thought Discipline.

The home of my thoughts, my mind, is what fashions my life. If I give my mind control, it will shape my life. This means I must be the one who controls my mind. I accomplish this by disciplining my thoughts. This process effectively gives me control in my mind and thereafter in my life. It would be fair to ask, how do I discipline my thoughts? For me, awareness of what was happening in my mind came first. I was able to accept that my emotions came about because of the thoughts I was having. These were concerning certain incidents occurring in my life. I relax my mind by taking say, ten deep breaths.

I Continue The Process:

After this, I establish awareness of the thoughts and their relationship to the specific incident. I create awareness by confirming the emotion I was experiencing was due to my (thought) reaction to the particular incident. Let’s take a practical example: A cashier at a till point is rude to me. I think, this person should not be talking to me in this manner, I will report them. As a result of this thought, I become angry. Using the process above I think; this person is tired, probably overworked, and more than likely, poorly paid. I’m pleased I do not have to do their job. The emotion I feel is compassion. I am now in control of my mind – and my life. I was not able to practice this discipline until I had embraced the following sequence to still my mind.

  • Firstly, I use the breathing technique above.
  • Now I create awareness of mind control via thought. (Telling myself that whatever I allow my mind to think will result in an emotion.)
  • Next, I practice the discipline of changing thoughts when confronted by an upsetting incident. (I do this before I react to the upsetting incident).
  • Finally, I walk away from the incident and do not entertain any thoughts regarding the event.

The Most Beautiful Garden in the World

gardens

Flower Gardens

The most beautiful and dynamic garden in the world is the human mind.

In it grow all manner of thoughts.

Every imaginable species of thoughts grow there; happily they grow alongside each other; which is quite surprising really, considering how different they all are.

Whilst they jostle, like the occupants of any garden, for prominence, they vie with one another for position; some content in their beauty, some content in their fragrance, others boasting both beauty and fragrance.
